Does God have anything to say to me? PDF Print E-mail

Everybody imagines what they’d like to say to God.

I once heard Jonathan Ross interviewing the band Coldplay, and one of them told a joke that went like this:

Q - “What did Jonathan Ross say to God?” A – “What are you doing in my chair?”

And sadly that’s what everybody says to God: “get out of my life, I want to be in control”.

But the question is, does God have anything to say to us?

The answer is Yes! God has made Himself known; He has spoken in the Bible, and has sent His Son Jesus Christ to reveal exactly what He is like.

It may seem incredible, but the God who made the universe wants to speak to each one of us, and that includes you!

Here are two questions He might ask:

“What are you doing in my chair?”

We have all rejected God and sat in the place He should be

(Romans 3v23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”)

“What have you done with my Son?”

God sent Jesus to take the punishment we deserve and bring us back to Him.

(Romans 3v24 “We are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”)

Everything depends on whether you and I listen to God and accept His gift.

How can I hear what God is saying?

1)      Pray and ask that God would speak to you and make you able to hear

2)      Get a Bible and start reading (I suggest you start with Mark or John’s Gospel)

3)      Go to church and listen and ask questions.  You can listen to some sermons on this website, you’ll find the morning ones particularly helpful.
