How much am I worth? PDF Print E-mail

I sold my body to the chemists, I wouldn’t even get £1 for it!

Did you know that your body has…

Enough fat for 5 bars of soap

Enough sulphur to kill all the fleas on a dog

Enough phosphorus to tip 2000 matches

And enough iron to make a 1 inch nail!

But if I sold my body to the chemists, I wouldn’t even get £1 for it!

Our hearts tell us we must be more than a sack of bones and chemicals: we have feelings, we love, we think, we know when we’ve done right, and we know when we’ve done wrong.  So what am I worth?

Modern science tells us we just happened by chance, and we have no real purpose.  If that’s true, then I’m of less value than a chair – at least it was made for a purpose! So what am I worth?

Only the Bible, where God speaks to us, tells us the truth.

  • We are made by God as the crowning achievement of all creation.  We were made to love and know Him – you can’t find a greater purpose than that!
  • But all of us have rejected God, we’ve thrown away the thing that’s of real value, and we face God’s anger for rejecting Him. We’ve become worthless, and lost.
  • God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to buy us back.  He did this by dying on the cross, facing God’s anger for us, and by rising from the dead.  We are very precious to God - the price tag He put on us being saved was the death of His Son!

We will only know how much we’re worth if:

-         we admit we’ve rejected God and become worthless

-     we turn and trust Jesus Christ to save us – then we find out we’re priceless!
